Îlet paris table

Îlet Paris is a handcrafted leather bag and accessory brand founded by Emi Shima, Japanese-born designer based in Paris. Her  family name, Shima, meaning “island” in Japanese, is the core inspiration behind the brand. An “îlet” refers to a small island, symbolizing balance and the uniqueness of nature. This name embodies the idea of a pure, timeless, and minimalist space, defining Îlet Paris's philosophy of quiet luxury.

During her years of self-teaching in Paris, she launched her first brand, which laid the foundation for her unique style. She later refined her skills in France, earning a diploma in leather craftsmanship and training with master artisans, including those from Hermès and Meilleurs Ouvriers de France. With a university background in art and design from Japan and experience as a stylist in Paris, she brings a unique approach to timeless elegance and craftsmanship.

Each bag is handcrafted by the artisan in our Parisian workshop, with time taken to ensure every detail. We use carefully selected, sustainable materials, such as high-quality leather sourced from renowned tanneries that also supply top luxury brands, with brass and bronze details. Traditional saddle stitching, hand-stitched with waxed linen thread, ensures a refined finish and lasting quality.

Our designs are inspired by smooth, rounded pebbles and rocks, shaped and polished by the sea natural elements found around the island. The fluidity and softness of these organic forms are reflected in our creations, resulting in modern, elegant, and timeless pieces.

The name îlet (pronounced “ee-leh”) evokes purity, tranquility, and simplicity, elements embedded in the brand’s philosophy and present in every piece.
